Trabeculoplasty
This procedure is a laser surgery that helps treat glaucoma, usually used to treat open-angle glaucoma. It helps in the drainage of fluid from the eye and lowering pressure in your eye. Usually, it takes place in an outpatient surgery center or the ophthalmologist’s office. During the process, the surgeon uses a laser to help the drainage angle function efficiently. You would get numbing medicine and other medicine to help you relax, but you are awake during the surgery. Generally, you can go home the same day.
Most surgeries have adverse effects. An SLT study [3] carried out on 120 patients by the US Food and Drug Administration for the surgery’s damaging effects. Some of the procedure’s reported adverse effects include pain or discomfort and redness in 5% of the participants. IOP elevation was discovered in 6% of the patients, and anterior chamber inflammation in 89% of the patients.
