Treatment for Alcohol Dependence

Drinking lots of alcoholic drinks for a day for several years may result in pancreatitis. If an individual gets pancreatitis for that reason, the doctor may recommend a treatment program to help overcome alcohol dependence. Continuous intake of alcohol can cause pancreatitis and worsen the condition, leading to severe complications. Some doctors may recommend going to detox. However, this is only for those with severe alcohol use disorder. Note that detox may come with specific withdrawal symptoms like seizures, shaking, and hallucinations. Apart from the detox [4] option, other ways to treat alcohol dependence could involve using medications to make drinking less enjoyable or seeing a licensed therapist.
