10 Early Symptoms of Sinusitis

Bad Breath

The muscle coming out of an infected sinus releases bad odor. The mucus drains through the back of your throat, causing bad breath. [2] In sinusitis, bacteria may be trapped in the nasal cavities, which releases an unpleasant smell.

Fever

A low-grade fever [3] is a common symptom of a sinus infection. Your body will react to viral or bacterial infections by increasing its temperature to try and kill them off. The fever is a response to your body fighting the condition and it may be accompanied by fatigue.

Loss of Taste and Smell

Sinusitis makes it difficult to breathe through your nose and decreases your ability to smell. Your sense of smell also affects your sense of taste. While people with sinusitis may still be able to differentiate between salty and sweet foods, the taste of food will become bland.
