Staph Bone Infections (Osteomyelitis)

Staph bone infections can be caused by staph bacteria when they invade the bone. Staph bacteria can find its way to the bone through the bloodstream or by invading wounds or deep injuries to the skin. They can also enter through surgical incisions or a bone fracture. Bone infections can lead to serious bone damage if left untreated. The common symptoms of bone infection include;

  • Fever and chills
  • Pain at the site of infection
  • General feeling of illness
  • Redness and swelling of the infected area
  • Limb stiffness

Staph Lung Infections (Pneumonia)

Staph bacteria can cause infection of the lungs leading to a condition known as bacterial pneumonia which can become life-threatening. People who are at risk of this type of staph infection include:

  • People with prior respiratory infections like Influenza, etc.
  • Patients suffering from cystic fibrosis
  • Patients in the intensive care unit.
  • Cancer patients, etc

Symptoms of Staph Pneumonia include:

  • Fever and chills
  • General sense of feeling unwell
  • Persistent cough
  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath, etc
