Side-lying position & Upright breastfeeding

This position involves lying on your side and letting your baby face you, tummy to tummy. Support your baby with the arm you are not lying on. You may also have to cup your breast [4].
This position is best for mothers who want rest during the course of breastfeeding [5]. You must be ready to stay alert at all times while in this position. Do not fall asleep with your baby in that position.
Start this breastfeeding position uprightly and ensure your baby straddles your thigh or put them on your hip. They should be on their spine [6] and their head should be upright during the course of the feeding.
According to experts, this position is easier for older babies because they can easily raise their head up.
