White Curds in Baby Poops: What It Means and What You Can Do?

Undigested Milk Fat

As said earlier it is more common in breastfed babies because breast milk has a high content of fat compared to formula-fed but it can happen more often in formula-fed babies as well. However, the amount of fat in breast milk can vary with time. At the beginning of the feeding session, the milk produced is called foremilk [3] (though low in fat, it still contains protein and nutrients needed for babies’ growth). The breast milk produced at the end of the feeding session is called hindmilk [4] (contains more fat). Variation in milk fat is the cause of the white flecks in your baby’s poop as they can’t digest the milk fat at once. If your baby is having white curd in poop without any sign of illness or discomfort, undigested fat may be the reason.
