How to know if you have a lateral pelvic tilt?
You can find out if your pelvis is not balanced or tilted to an abnormal position by:
- Standing in front of a big mirror with your feet shoulder-width apart.
- Placing the heels of your hands anterior to your hip bones, which is also called the anterior superior iliac spine [3].
- Holding a piece of string stretched between your hands. It also helps if you imagine a horizontal line between your hands.
- The line between your hands must be parallel to the ground, and not pointing up or down. If the imaginary horizontal line is not parallel, you may have a lateral pelvic tilt [4].
