10 High-Sodium Foods to Avoid

Instant Pudding

Pudding is a tricky meal because it does not taste salty, but various studies show that it contains high levels of sodium. The sodium is usually derived from salt and sodium-rich additives such as disodium phosphate [7] and tetrasodium pyrophosphate. These additives are usually added to thicken instant pudding.

A 25-gram portion of infant vanilla pudding mix used to produce a half-cup serving contains 350 mg of sodium, or 15% of the RDI. On the other hand, the same amount of normal vanilla pudding mix has 135 mb of sodium, or 6% of the RDI.
