Congestive Heart Failure Food Tips

Limiting Fluid Intake

Apart from limiting the intake of sodium amount, a physician may also suggest reducing fluids intake. [4] This tends to help keep the heart from becoming overloaded with fluids all day long.  Although the quantity of fluid intake restriction varies from person to person, physicians often suggest 2,000 mL of fluid per day should be applicable to people with Congestive Heart Failure. This is equal to approximately 2 quarts of fluid.

Once it comes to limiting fluid, be sure to take into account anything that is a fluid and watery form at room temperature. This should include foods like soup, ice cream, and gelatin. You can however find other alternatives to quench thirst such as guzzling water in the mouth then spitting it out. [5]
