Microwave Popcorn and Hydrogenated Oils

Certain microwave popcorn bags are coated with a substance that breaks down and releases perfluoroctanoic acid (PFOA) [8] when heated. Prostate, liver, and other malignancies have all been related to PFOA’s elevated risk. Diacetyl, a different chemical used to create faux butter flavor, may harm the lungs. A brown paper bag, some coconut oil, and microwaveable popcorn are all you need to make your own.
Hydrogenated oils are not only harmful to your heart, but they can also damage your cells and promote inflammation, both of which have been related to cancer and other illnesses. In January 2015, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration outlawed partially hydrogenated oils, giving food producers three years to stop using them in their goods.
