Dairy

Dairy products contain high levels of iodine. In fact, they are one of the richest sources of iodine. The iodine level in the cattle feed greatly affects the amount of iodine found in milk and diary objects. Iodine content in milk and dairy also depend on the use of iodine-containing disinfectants during milking.
A brief study measured the iodine content in 18 different types of milk available in Boston. The study showed that all the 18 brands contained at least 88 mcg in 1 cup of milk. Some brands may also contain about 168 mcg in one cup. According to these results, 1 cup of milk can offer 59-112% of the recommended daily amount of iodine.
Yogurt is a good dairy source that contains high levels of iodine. One cup of plain yogurt offers approximately half of the daily recommended amount. The amount of iodine in cheese depends on the type. Voltage cheese contains the highest level of iodine. One cup of cottage cheese contains 65 mcg of iodine, and one ounce of cheddar cheese offers about 12 mcg.
