Can Blue Light Cause Headaches?

Blue Light and headache

According to digital eye strain (DES), people who use digital devices for a long period are susceptible to certain symptoms, including:

  • Sensitivity to light
  • Sore or tired eyes
  • Dry eyes
  • Neck pain
  • Blurry vision
  • Shoulder pain
  • Headache

Cell phones, tablets, laptops, and computer screens can all lead to digital eye strain. These devices emanate blue light. The connection between blue light and eye strain has led many researchers to focus more on understanding whether blue light is responsible for digital eye strain.

Researchers still don’t know if it is the blue light that causes DES symptoms. However, several pieces of evidence show that the symptoms are caused by long hours of intense work on the devices and not the color of the light radiating from the screens.
