What Causes Bunions?

There are no known causes of bunions. It just occurs naturally to people and it is not a major health concern. However, it can be passed genetically from one generation to another. Although it is yet to be proven, research has also shown that consistent use of tight footwears raises one’s risk of developing bunions. So it is advisable to avoid wearing tight shoes for too long to lower your risk of having bunions. Look for shoes that fit properly instead.

Underlying conditions like rhuematoid arthritis [2] and Ehler-Danlos syndrome [3] also predispose one to bunions.
