How to apply for extra help

If you are eligible to apply for the QMB program, you automatically qualify for Extra Help. Most beneficiaries apply for the Extra Help program on the SSA website. After enrolling in Extra Help, the SSA will adjust your resource and income every year, mostly at the end of August.
How do I enroll?
You can visit your state’s Medicaid office to know if you qualify for the QMB program. You can also visit your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) to make more enquiries about the program.
You will fill a form during enrollment. The type of form you feel depends on your state. You may also have to submit extra documents during enrollment, such as income tax return information, bank statements, or pay stubs.
Conclusion
The QMB program is a type of Medicare Savings Program. Its primary aim is to help people with limited resources and income cover their Medicare out-of-pocket costs, such as deductibles, copays, premiums, and coinsurance. People who qualify for the Qualified Medicare Beneficiaries can also access Extra Help.
