Resource limits
To qualify for QMB, there’s a resource limit that you must not exceed. Resources that are considered are:
- The money you have in checking and savings accounts
- Bonds
- Stocks
Medicare does not set limits on some resources, such as furniture, cars, and houses.
In addition, your resource limit for the QMB program depends on your marital status. In 2021, the resource limit applied by Medicare are:
- Individual: $7,970
- Married: $11,960
Like income limits, resource limits also increase annually. So, you have to apply for the QMB program if your resources have slightly increased.
