Cats Are Quieter
Compared to dogs, cats are a lot quieter. [2] This can be a very important criterion when deciding between both animals as pets. Dogs tend to bark at things, at people, at other animals. Sometimes they bark for reasons that are hard to figure out. While this is not always a problem and varies from breed to breed, it can be a little too much sometimes.
Cats are not mute. They make noise too, and their purrs and meows can be quite audible, but they are a long shot from being as loud as dogs. Their sounds may even be considered cute.
