Watch out for “Healthy” Processed Snack

Foods that are processed sometimes have a “health halo.” They appear healthy at first appearance, and their marketing may utilize terms like “natural” or “wholesome” to make them appear healthier than they actually are.

It may surprise you to learn that some snacks, such protein bars, granola bars, and dried fruit, can have as much sugar as candy and chocolate bars.

One such example is dried fruit. It’s loaded with antioxidants, minerals, and fiber. To avoid overindulging, you should control your intake as it also includes high amounts of natural sugar (and certain forms may be “candied” with additional added sugar).
