There are certain morning cereals that have a lot of added sugar. According to one survey, some of the most well-liked ones had more added sugar than half their weight.

One cereal in the study had 88% sugar by weight, or more than 12 teaspoons (50 grammes) per serving.

Furthermore, the study discovered that, on average, granola—which is typically sold as a health food—has more sugar than any other kind of cereal.

An increased hunger and weight gain have been related to high sugar intake. On the other hand, a diet strong in protein and fiber and low in added sugar may have the opposite effect, decreasing appetite and increasing feelings of fullness.

It has also been demonstrated that protein directly lowers eating cravings. According to one study, consuming 25% more protein decreased cravings by 60%.
