H. Pylori Meal Plans: Foods to Eat and Avoid

Ultra-Processed Foods

Highly processed foods often contain high amounts of salt, fats, and sugars. Consuming foods high in these substances is not advisable for people with H. pylori infections, particularly if they have also developed stomach ulcers.

Salty foods, for example, are not necessarily going to make your H. pylori infection worse directly, but it facilitates the expansion of this bacterium. [15] It does this by disrupting the integrity and viscosity of your gut mucosa. This makes it easier for H. pylori to colonize more areas of the stomach and cause damage.

Alcohol

Alcohol can worsen symptoms of H. pylori, especially if you have stomach ulcer. [16] It irritates the stomach lining and increases inflammation in the gut. It also increases the production of stomach acid. You should quit consuming alcohol if your H. pylori infection has caused you to develop stomach ulcer.
