Bartter’s Syndrome

Bartter’s syndrome is a rare inherited condition that affects the cells in the part of the kidney that reabsorbs electrolytes (loop of henle). It is usually accompanied by the following symptoms:
- Frequent need to drink and urinate
- High urine prostaglandin levels
- Potassium wasting
- Hypochloremia and chemotherapy
- Low blood chloride levels
- Metabolic alkalosis [3] (high blood pH)
- High aldosterone secretion [4]
- Normal blood pressure
- High blood renin levels
