Warnings

  • Allergy: the use of this drug causes a high risk of the development of allergies such as itchy welts, peeling skin, swelling of the face, tongue, and lips and also causes troubled breathing. If you have allergic reactions, talk to your doctor about it before taking this tablet.
  • Alcohol: beverages containing alcohol should not be taken while using tramadol as it can cause severe side effects like confusion, decreased blood pressure, slowed breathing and reduced heart rate.
  • Liver problems: anybody with liver problems or has a history of liver disease should not use tramadol because the body won’t be able to process the drug properly and therefore increase the level of this tablet and cause fatal side effects.
  • Kidney disease: when a patient has kidney disease, it doesn’t allow tramadol to be cleared up from the body system thereby increasing the level of this drug in the body system and causing severe side effects.
  • Breathing problems: patients with breathing issues such as asthma [2] should inform their doctors before proceeding to take this medication because tramadol causes slowed breathing and hence makes breathing more difficult.
  • Pregnant women: scientific research has shown that this medication can cause adverse effects on the fetus in the womb, it is advised to speak with medical personnel to know the proper way to use this medication.
  • Other health issues: certain conditions like head injuries, stomach problems, addiction problems, mental health conditions and seizures problems should be reported to the doctor before taking the drug in order not to make this health problem worse.
  • Breastfeeding: tramadol is not recommended for breastfeeding mothers, because it may pass through the milk to the child and may cause serious effects on the child. Talk to your doctor before using this tablet whether to know if to stop breastfeeding or stop the drug.
