Signs and Symptoms of Asperger’s Syndrome

Non-verbal Communication

People with AS typically struggle to have verbal communication. In most cases, individuals with this condition have speech difficulties. Even adults with the condition tend to have stiff and repetitive speech that makes it difficult to pass information across to the other party.

Some people have issues with voice moderation for environments. For example, individuals with the condition may increase their voice when they are in a quiet area. Individuals with this condition may also face a problem in picking up nonverbal cues from other people, like facial expressions.

Like other AS symptoms, non-verbal communication [3] doesn’t have a direct cure, but it can be managed by speech therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, medications, and vocational therapy. Note that most of these treatment procedures are only applied when they undergo an appropriate diagnosis.
