Signs and Symptoms of Asperger’s Syndrome

Restricted Interests

Family and friends may observe restricted interests in a certain person with AS. Restricted interests are noticeable intense interests in a specific object or topic. For example, an individual may be interested in a specific TV show, activities like drawing, or math subjects.

In most cases, people with restricted interests are usually experts in the objects or topics they love. These individuals may also share their love for these things with other people. Note that people with autism have a different pattern of thinking, which causes intense interest.

People with restricted interests can receive help from medications or therapy. The latter is a common technique of providing treatment for the condition. Most individuals with AS may go for physical therapy, social skills training, occupational therapy, or cognitive behavioral therapy.
