Is keratitis contagious?

Yes, it is. One of the ways you can get keratitis is by transmission through an infection. This may occur if you touch your eyes after coming into contact with an infectious substance. It might also happen if you become ill and the illness later travels to your eyes.
You might even contract keratitis from yourself without knowing. For instance, touching an open herpes sore before contacting the area around the eyes can result in this illness.
Keratitis that is not infectious is not communicable. These conditions only spread if an infection takes hold.
