Excessive Sleepiness: Causes, Symptoms and Treatments

Restless Legs Syndrome

Do you tend to unintentionally move your leg when you are asleep? Then you might have restless legs syndrome (RLS). The syndrome is also accompanied by painful sensations in the legs. You can have this condition when you are awake or asleep. The syndrome makes it hard for you to sleep. If you have RLS when you are asleep, it may lead to spasms or jerks in the leg during the night. The spasms may not wake you up, but they will prevent you from getting a good quality of sleep. It makes you feel tired and inactive during the day.

Studies show that restless leg syndrome is caused by changes in the neurotransmitter dopamine, which helps in regulating the activities of a muscle.
