Physical Symptoms of PMS

These are physical signs that can be easily observed as anatomical abnormality or change in the body.

Edematous: These are swelling [7] of the face, hands, and feet, acne, sweating. There is also an increased sensitivity of the mammary glands, weakness, and pain in the muscles. The mammary glands become sore [8] and there is an obvious increase in size. The edematous sign can also be associated with a temporary increase in weight.

Cephalgic: In this case, the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome are expressed in the form of paroxysmal headaches [9], nausea, and dizziness. Facial redness and swelling may occur along with acne [10].

Anxiety: It is characterized by an increased sense of fear (anxiety [11]), the appearance of the so-called “panic attacks”, and when the heart rate increases, blood pressure rise. There may even be fear of death occurs. Such signs usually appear during premenopause, accompanied by the development of pathologies from the cardiovascular system, kidneys, and gastrointestinal tract.

Atypical: The main symptoms include asthma attacks, migraines, fever, skin irritation, stomatitis, and ulcerative gingivitis.

Mixed: It can manifest itself in various deterioration in well-being at certain stages of the menstrual cycle or other physiological changes. There may be increased craving for food (predominantly sweet and savory), Thirst, accompanied by increased urination, etc.
