Risk factors
Most times, the actual cause of this disease is unknown, but certain factors put you at a greater risk of being diagnosed with this disease. These factors are;
- High dose of radiation
- Smoking
- Exposure to chemicals such as benzene, detergents, pesticides, and ionizing radiation.
- Family history, either immediate or distant relatives
- Genetic syndromes such as trisomy 8 [2], down syndrome, etc.
Symptoms
There is a broad list of possible symptoms of the disease. Some people may or may not show these symptoms until a later stage. It usually begins with flu-like symptoms. Examples of possible symptoms include;
- Fever
- Weight loss
- Headaches
- Swollen gum
- Swollen spleen
- Loss of appetite
- Red spots of the skin (Petechiae) [3]
