Acute Myeloid Leukemia Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy, also known as “chemo”, is the use of anti-cancer drugs that are usually administered through an intravascular injection, subdermal injection, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) injection, or medicines that are taken orally to kill, destroy and eliminate cancer cells.

This treatment is effective in managing cancer because it enters the bloodstream and reaches all the parts of the body, reaching a large number of the cancer cells. CSF injection is only given if there are confirmed signs of the infection in the central nervous system, i.e., the brain and the spinal cord.
