How much tummy time do babies need by age?
Newborns can only engage in tummy time for 1 to 2 minutes at first. However, after a few months, you can increase the tummy time. When your baby is 4 to 6 months old, they gain the ability to roll on the floor. Some children gain the ability to move to a sitting position without help.
Even after your baby reaches a developed age, you can still practice tummy time. According to experts, this practice helps build muscles required for:
- Walking
- Sitting for longer periods of time
- Crawling
