Spina bifida occulta

Spina bifida occulta is a moderate type of spina bifida. It is also known as “hidden” spina bifida. It may not result in any physical disabilities and may go unnoticed for a long period. It is not characterized by any opening in the baby’s back. However, there may be a gap in the spine. Spina bifida occulta is also not accompanied by any damage to the spinal cord or the nerves.
Meningocele
Like Myelomeningocele, meningocele is a type of spina bifida that involves a sack of fluid outside an opening in the baby’s back. However, in this type, the sack does not have any part of the spinal cord. This is because it does not cause a lot of nerve damage. Meningocele results in only minor disabilities.
