Bakery Goods with Shortening

Shortening means any fat that is solid at room temperature. Examples of shortening include lard and margarine. Many bakery goods are produced with shortening. Unfortunately, shortening can contain trans-fat. Please note that trans fat raises the risk of heart disease [10] and death from heart disease. Additionally, trans fat makes it difficult for the cells to communicate, affecting the nervous system’s function, including the brain and the entire health of the body.
