Healthy Fats

Consumption of monosaturated and polyunsaturated fats [5] helps to improve the symptoms of hiatal hernia. They improve acid reflux and irritation of the lining of the esophagus.
Watery meals
Consumption of adequate water helps to reduce the strength of gastric acids and to dilute them. Foods with sufficient water include; cucumbers, lettuce, watermelon, broth-based soups, herbal tea, celery.
Lean Protein
Medical doctors always advise patients with Hiatal hernias to focus on lean meats instead of fatty ones. Proteins that contain excess fat worsen the symptoms of hiatal hernia. Examples of lean protein are; mackerel [6], cod, beans, tofu, ground turkey, and chicken breasts. Foods like hamburgers and meatloaf should be avoided.
