Surgery Can Be an Option and Is It Preventable?

Surgery is always an option when the home remedies fail to yield good results and you cannot live with it. Surgery is the most effective means as it helps to remove the bunions almost totally and helps to straighten one’s feet.
Different surgical methods can be carried out and it includes the following:
- Arthroplasty: This procedure involves the removal of the swollen portion of the joint around the big toe. It helps to expand the space between the joints making the big toe.
- Surgery around Tendons of Big Toe: Surgical procedures to help make the tendons and ligament around the hallux less tight can be helpful in removing bunions in the feet.
- Arthrodesis: This involves removing the bunions and using tools like pins to hold the bones together for a little while.
Surgery is very effective and has a high success rate. It is not a must but can be an option if you are tired of trying out simple methods.
You can prevent yourself from developing bunions if you do not have it. The easiest way of preventing bunions is by always wearing shoes that fit. Stay away from tight shoes. If it is possible, avoid wearing shoes for long periods and walk more barefooted especially when you are at home.
You should ensure that you try out exercises that help with the mobility of the feet. Stay away from activities that put a lot of pressure on your feet.
