Waiver for people with ALS

ALS is a severe medical condition. It is also known as motor neuron disease or Lou Gehrig’s disease. When you have ALS, the neurons that control the activities of your voluntary muscles break down. This results in a loss of muscle control. The condition has no cure.

Eligibility

According to research, the standard life expectancy for people with ALS is 2–5 years after diagnosis. People with ALS live on supportive care and drugs. As a result, Medicare relinquishes the 2-year waiting period. If you have ALS, Medicare allows you to apply in the first month the SSA approves you for SSDI benefits.
