Eczema and Inflammation- Everything You Need to Know

Eczema and Inflammation

Eczema, also referred to as dermatitis, is a skin disease that causes inflammation. As a matter of fact, the “-itis” in it refers to inflammation. Eczema causes your skin to be inflamed, itchy, and red. Inflammation may not always be a bad thing. When it’s your immune system response to an infection or injury, it is due to the release of protein and antibodies, as well as increased blood flow to the affected area.

This response helps the body fight infections and heal from different injuries. However, when it comes to eczema, your immune system overreacts to typically harmless substances in your environment. Which results in a state of chronic Inflammation. Inflammation caused by eczema can damage the skin, cause serious itching, and leave it red.
