Foot Drop

The foot drop syndrome [3] is the inability of achieving dorsiflexion of foot with loss of muscle strength caused by the local nerve injury. Peripheral neuropathy can also lead to foot drop as the nerves that support dorsiflexion of the foot has been damaged. This is associated with the patients dropping things suddenly [4] in most cases. Loss of muscle tone and loss of muscle control can sometimes cause many patients suffering from peripheral neuropathy to randomly drop thing that they are holding. When foot drop occurs (loss of muscle tone), this signifies that motor neuron have been affected by the neuropathy.
