Having understood that it is a virus that causes Mononucleosis and that it may produce symptoms that resemble that of flu, it is important to note that there is no specific treatment for this infection. Mononucleosis is not as contagious as a cold but its symptoms can last longer and its complications, though rare can be very severe or life-threatening (for example; spleen rupture, etc) Recovering from mononucleosis symptoms may take several months for some people. The more troublesome symptoms may subside after a few weeks but feelings of tiredness may persist for a longer period.
