How long does the pain following a dental Implant surgery last?

After successful dental implant surgery, the pain you may feel should be temporary, it may last for at most 5 days after the local anesthesia wears off. If needed your surgeon will recommend pain medication that you’ll take for a day or two.

You may be able to resume daily activities the following day after the surgery if the pain isn’t severe.

You may also experience swelling, jaw stiffness, and bruising which could last for at most 10 days after the surgery. If these symptoms aren’t severe you can still go on with your daily activities.

What causes throbbing pain after dental implant surgery?

Although it’s rare, one may experience throbbing pain for an extended period after dental implant surgery. Usually, you may experience sharp pain after the procedure once the anesthesia wears off, but it should gradually disappear with pain medication.
