Diamond Push-ups

While traditional push-ups focus mainly on your chest, triceps [1], shoulders, and abs. Adjusting to a diamond push-up will help build your biceps. Diamond push-up is referred to as such because of the shape your hand takes during the exercise and forces your arm together to help channel the force on your biceps.

How to perform a diamond push-up

  • First, take a standard push-up position
  • Place your hand together and keep your arms straight
  • Rotate your hand inward and extend your thumbs, join both hands together in the middle directly below your chest. The open space between your thumbs and pointed fingers should look like a diamond.
  • Ensure to engage your core
  • Slowly lower yourself until your chest gets close to the ground
  • Maintain the position for two seconds, then push yourself back up
  • Repeat step 4 to 6 for the number of reps you intend to do.
