Side Effects of Actemra: What You Need to Know

Patients with diverticulitis (irritation in several parts of the large intestine) should talk to their doctors before using Actemra, to avoid overdose. Patients using Actemra may develop holes in their stomach or intestines. This side effect occurs in people that use non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), corticosteroids and methotrexate with Actemra. The first observable sign of this side effect is persistent changes in bowel habit; patients begin to experience several challenges when using the toilet. Other signs are fever, headache and pains in the abdominal area that does not go away. Patients are advised to report immediately to a doctor once any of these signs is observed.
