Surprising Benefits and Uses of Myrrh Oil

Has Strong Antibacterial Properties

In certain test-tube studies [5], myrrh oil has been found to directly inhibit the growth of some disease-causing microbes. Research [6] on the antimicrobial properties of myrrh oil shows that it is effective in killing off several types of drug-resistant bacteria.

In this study myrrh oil diluted down to 0.1 percent was effective in wiping out dormant Lyme disease bacteria. This is significant because these bacteria often remain in people’s systems after the disease has been treated with antibiotics.

Apart from directly acting on microbes, myrrh can cause the immune system to up its production of white blood cells. White blood cells are central to the body’s defense system and can help it fight off infections with microbes.
