Food Rich in Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Lean Proteins

Patients with gastritis are normally discouraged from consuming fatty foods but foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids (healthy fats) is very good for these category of patients. Omega-3 fatty acids have an antagonistic effect against helicobacter pylori, it reduces its population in the gut, giving room for other bacteria that are non-harmful to populate the gut and reduce the rate of inflammation. Lean proteins on the other hand help in repairing the gastric mucosa that might have been damaged as a result of the ongoing inflammation in the area, once repaired, the mucosa regain its integrity and reduces the symptoms of gastritis. Examples of food rich in omega-3 fatty acids and lean proteins include: fish, chicken, egg, turkey, sardines etc.
