Beverages

There are different types of gluten-free beverages available in the market today. However, some drinks are combined with additives that contain gluten. Some alcoholic beverages are also produced with barley, malt, and other gluten-containing grains, which should be avoided on a gluten-free diet. [7]

Common gluten-free beverages include water, coffee, tea, lemonade, fruit juice, alcoholic beverages like wine, beer, hard ciders, beer, and water. Even though these beverages are gluten-free, it’s important to drink them in moderation due to their added sugars.

As a beverage, water is the healthiest kind. It hydrates the body and replenishes fluid loss. Hence, it helps regulate digestion, circulation, and nutrient transportation. Water is excellent at maintaining the skin’s condition, vital organs like kidneys and the muscles.

Any beverage that contains added flavorings or mix-ins like coffee coolers should be double-checked. Moreover, distilled liquors like gin, vodka, and whiskey can trigger reactions in some individuals even though their labels may not make it obvious. Pre-made smoothies may also contain some levels of gluten.

Lastly, there are some beverages to avoid. Examples of standard drinks that should be avoided are non-distilled liquors, beers, ales, and lagers from gluten-containing grains. Other malt beverages like wine coolers should also be avoided due to gluten content.
