Foods That Cause Gout
There are several foods to avoid due to their ability to cause gout. Here are some of the common foods.
High Purine Vegetables
Examples of high-purine vegetables are spinach, Asparagus, cauliflower, and mushrooms. These vegetables have high levels of purine compared to other types of vegetables. Asparagus is a vegetable commonly consumed with high amounts of purines. It is advisable to consume less than half-cup servings of Asparagus daily or avoid its intake altogether. Spinach is an excellent addition to a diet. However, people with gout problems are advised to avoid or cut down the spinach intake to a relatively low level. Other vegetables like leaf or romaine are suitable replacements for spinach.
